This is supposed to be a "re-imagining" of the franchise, but much of the optional loot and side-puzzles from the previous iteration have been stripped out and replaced with - nothing. Mundane voice-acting and cringe-worthy dialogue stand out. Even the stealth sections are a linear path. Only thing going for it are the very nice graphics (CryEngine), but even that is tempered by some absolutely awful optimization. Now baring in mind that there have been at least 3 previous games made some time ago, which were linear and boring as f*ck with terrible mechanics, you would think that they would learn. I have not dug deep enough into whether or not this game was made by the same devs because I don't care. You expect to see improvements and you get nothing. Literally nothing.In terms of graphical quality, you would think you are playing a game from the mid 2000's, similar to details in a fan modded upgrade of Half Life 2 at BEST. The story is rubbish, the characters are rubbish with no personalities, the voice acting and dialogue is TERRIBLE, the game mechanics are slow, clunky and just don't work and it is as about as linear as that long straight road you see on many canvasses which runs through Colorado. No wait, it's as linear as the painted line on that long straight road. It's basically a remake / reimagining of the original, three-game, Adam's Venture series that was originally released between 2009 and 2012. In Adam's Venture Origins, you control the actions of our hero, Adam who, together with a female companion named Evelyn, will have to thwart the evil plans of the shadowy Clairveaux company. I've never played the original Adam's venture games, so this was actually my first experience with the Adam's Venture Franchise. I must say, I really think it turned out to be a great game! The controls are simple yet effective and the game has a nice overall look to it. Combine this with a nice soundtrack and this game is really one you want to play if you like games like the Secret Files series or something similar.You'll begin your adventure in your father's study, who is in need of a certain book for his studies. He has sent his new assistant to collect it, but she hasn't returned just yet. At this point, your father grows impatient and sends you to find her and the book. You set off to do just that and that's how you meet Evelyn; a nice girl who will help you during your adventures (or criticize you from time to time). Adam's Venture has a nice story that takes you to all kind of cool and mysterious locations. When Adam is exploring an area, he can use his grapple hook to get around. It's a nice addition to the game and works really well.Adam's Venture Origins features a lot of cool environments and surprising events. And although I don't want to spoil anything for the people who haven't played the game yet, I cannot help but to tell you about one really cool point in the story. It occurred right after I found a certain book in a library. I went back to study and Adam's father and Evelyn are examining the book. I was able to take it from them and then I use it to open a secret panel. When I entered the newly discovered passageway, I fell into a tomb that was hidden underneath the house. You never see that happening at your own house, do you?Our protagonist, Adam, is kind of an anti-hero; He is a bit cocky, but kind and often uses some cheesy one-liners. Like when you come across a globe and you're able to spin it round. If you interact with it, Adam actually says: Adam Venture, makes the world goes round. I just love that! The developers focused on difficult puzzles for you to solve. Now, don't get anxious and start crying or something. You will eventually get the hang of it, I promise. The puzzles are intricate and solving them will really demand a lot of thinking on your part, but with some logic and by occasionally racking my brains, I was able to solve them. Adam's Venture is literally filled with puzzles and every time you solve one, you'll feel incredible!I would just like to say that I had a great time playing Adam's Venture Origins! it's a great game for everyone who likes adventure and/or puzzle games. Because there's next to no violence in it, it's also appropriate for children (PEGI 7). Although this game is supposedly a "reimagination" of Adam's Venture Chronicles, it just feels like a poorly done remastered version. There were maybe only a handful of new areas that weren't included in Chronicles. According to the developer, the content and most puzzles are the same with the prime difference being the new look to the world and new game engine. I enjoyed playing Chronicles more than this. Definitely don't buy both games. Pick one and only play one.Essentially everything I said in my review of Chronicles applies to this game. The differences: This game is no longer episodic, the story merely continues in multiple chapters. There are no longer hidden chests to find. The player can now control camera movement. Jumping no longer pushes Adam backward. I prefer all the character skins in Chronicles over Origins.. If obnoxiously dry rpg's are your thing, try it, i got it because of a deal from steam, i tried playing through it but the gameplay is not well designed and the puzzles are so simple that it's clear this game is designed for children.. His MC Hammer pants have been thrown out.Other than that it’s essentially the same trilogy with a few differences in some of the previous endings.So with that in mind, since the developer hasn't really made any changes to the trilogy other than some cosmetic changes and hasn't brought us any new adventures where Adam is searching for other relics like Noah's ark, The Search for the Nephilim, The Turin Shroud. Adam's Venture is one of those games that give to it's players that so specific adventure vibe, adventure games used to give long time ago, but packed in a new modern way!
